Snow
By John Zedolik

The body breaks down,

shards sloughing off

in the precipitation

of seconds, each sharp

as a slice, fierce snow

that severs without a sound

’til the drift accumulates

what has now dropped

to gather a high tumulus

holding no hollow for remains

regal or down the social line—

the grained surface the same

as the center mote, fallen the first,

now the heart of finishing to ever,

the source now failed, without a beat
