Aisle of Returned Promises
By Jimmy Sharma
Your handwritten note folds into the air,
the margins still warm with you.
Your voice, velvet and near,
leaves an afterglow between the stacks.
I walk the aisle like a pilgrim,
spines leaning in as if to listen;
dust stirs, pages remember.
A single sentence hovers,
not claimed, only held;
a germ of meaning I cup like light.
