accidental midnight voyeur

monumental concrete corpse

this decrepit building

across my apartment

and now the only thing

that betrays its flickering life

is the lone bright window

on its 13th floor

and the svelte silhouette

that sheds as skin

clothes and accessories

piece by piece

a fragment of liquid shadow

sloughed one after the other

guilty I close the blinds

and snake into my bed

languid forest river

slow sedated

as the dusk

that surrenders

to the undergrowth

cold as the frozen arrow

and the blood

that seeped into snow

its crepuscular water

fails to mirror

the fragile fawn

that leaps and glides

one slithery edge

to the mossier other

in search of her mother
