Melancholy & Me
By Malachi Edwin Vethamani
Melancholy needs no company.
Yet, he lies with me,
at times, a quiet companion,
offering solace.
At times, we battle through the day,
sapping my energy.
Every tinge of joy
has a melancholic lining.
Ah, joy, so fleeting
while you, dear companion,
melancholy,
are here to stay.
