Paramatta River
By Lahari Mahalanabish
Dark ripples indented by the perching
urbanscape, huge wings folded for a while,
white wafers of light crinkling
A glazy strip pinned by the many eyes
from apartment blocks with glass façade,
these trunks of light club by the river-side
Tiara of a bridge gemmed with red lights,
the waterway is coronated by the glittery traffic -
a city is where buses and cars rev up after the hurdle
in each one’s own treasure hunt
above the trail of red-dotted waters.
Poet's Note: Parramatta River flows through Sydney and its suburbs.

Lahari Mahalanabish (Chatterjee) loves reading and writing poetry and reads and writes poetry in every moment she can spare
