Quiet Days
By Sunil Kaushal
At 40C a feverish sky, dictates fashion-
muslin, chiffon, pastel shades!
August strokes skins,
thirsty dust settles a little
cooling angry pavements and terraces.
Resistance raises its head
a diva chooses stilettos and crimson velvet
heads turn.
“Is this the new in thing?”
whispers a wannabe.
The sun tired of fire and heat
joins the revolt, does not rise
with its glittering crown
a hush falls over the land
dawns are now pale yellow and rose.
September ambers and bronzes
bury the gold.
The sun wears velvet
No one looks up
The sky is dressed
for quiet days
autumn silently glides by.
